Cut your chocolate cake into small cubes.
Make them about 1-inch in size.
Set the pieces aside on a plate.
Pour heavy cream into a cold bowl.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract together.
Beat until stiff peaks form completely.
This takes about 3-4 minutes usually.
Place cake cubes at the bottom first.
Drizzle with kirsch if you're using it.
Add a layer of cherry pie filling.
Spread whipped cream over the cherries gently.
Repeat these layers until bowl is full.
Top with remaining whipped cream generously.
Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top beautifully.
Add a few whole cherries for decoration.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours minimum.
