  • 2 cans cherry pie filling 21 oz each
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings
  • 1/4 cup kirsch or cherry juice optional

Instructions

  • Cut your chocolate cake into small cubes.
  • Make them about 1-inch in size.
  • Set the pieces aside on a plate.
  • Pour heavy cream into a cold bowl.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract together.

  • Place cake cubes at the bottom first.
  • Drizzle with kirsch if you're using it.
  • Add a layer of cherry pie filling.
  • Spread whipped cream over the cherries gently.
  • Repeat these layers until bowl is full.
  • Top with remaining whipped cream generously.
  • Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top beautifully.
  • Add a few whole cherries for decoration.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours minimum.

Notes

  • Use cold cream for better whipping results.
  • Don't overmix or cream becomes too thick.
  • Let the trifle chill before serving always.
  • Make it a day ahead for better flavor.
  • Use a clear bowl to show layers.
  • Fresh cherries work if pie filling unavailable.
  • Add a splash of coffee for depth.
