  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Clean kitchen towel
  • Pastry brush
  • Wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Packet Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Fine Sea Salt
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Tbsp Honey

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until it gets very bubbly.
  • Warm the Liquids: Heat the milk and butter together. Make sure it is warm but not hot.
  • Mix the Dough: Add flour and salt to the yeast mix. Pour in the warm milk and the egg.
  • Knead the Dough: Use your mixer for five minutes. The dough should feel smooth and very stretchy.
  • First Rise: Put dough in a greased bowl. Cover it and let it double in size.
  • Shape the Rolls: Punch the dough down gently. Cut it into small, even round balls.
  • Second Rise: Place balls on the baking sheet. Let them rise again for thirty more minutes.
  • Bake the Bread: Put them in a hot oven. Bake until the tops look very golden brown.
  • Butter Wash: Brush melted butter on top immediately. This makes them shine and stay soft.
