Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve yeast in warm milk for 5 minutes.
  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt in large bowl.
  • Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg.
  • Knead dough until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in greased bowl, cover, rise 1 hour.
  • Combine all chai spice filling ingredients thoroughly.
  • Roll dough into 12x18 inch rectangle.
  • Spread softened butter evenly across dough surface.
  • Sprinkle chai spice mixture over buttered dough.
  • Roll tightly from long side, seal edges.
  • Cut into 12 equal pieces carefully.
  • Place rolls in greased baking pan.
  • Cover and rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes.
  • Cool slightly before adding glaze.

  1. Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing results.
  2. Don't over-flour the dough to keep rolls tender.
  3. Let dough rise in warm, draft-free area.
