Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of old-fashioned rolled oats.
  • 1/2 cup of milk dairy, almond, or oat milk.
  • 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt plain or vanilla.
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds optional but recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  • A pinch of salt.

Instructions

Combine the Dry

  • Place the rolled oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt into your glass jar.

Add the Wet

  • Pour in the milk, Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract.

Mix it Well

  • Stir everything together with a spoon until there are no dry pockets of oats left.

Seal the Jar

  • Tighten the lid on the jar to keep the oats fresh and prevent them from picking up fridge smells.

Let it Soak

  • Place the jar in the refrigerator. Let it sit for at least 6 hours or overnight.

Check the Texture

  • In the morning, give the oats a quick stir. If they are too thick, add a splash of extra milk.

Add the Toppings

  • Top your jar with fresh berries, sliced bananas, or a spoonful of nut butter.

Grab and Go

  • Eat the oats straight from the jar or pour them into a bowl for a cozy breakfast.

Notes

  • Use rolled oats. Steel-cut oats stay too crunchy, and quick oats can get too mushy; rolled oats are perfect.
  • Add chia seeds. These tiny seeds absorb liquid and turn the milk into a thick, delicious pudding.
  • Don't skip the salt. A tiny pinch of salt brings out the sweetness of the honey and the nuttiness of the oats.
  • Use Greek yogurt. This adds a boost of protein and makes the texture extra creamy and tangy.
  • Layer your fruit. If using soft berries, add them in the morning so they stay fresh and do not get smashed.
  • Shake it up. If you are in a rush, you can just put the lid on and shake the jar instead of stirring.
