Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 pound dried figs.
  • 1/4 pound raisins.
  • 2 ounces glacé cherries.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
  • 1/4 cup honey.
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter.
  • 1/2 cup sugar.
  • 1 large egg.
  • 1 1/2 cups flour.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves.

Instructions
 

  • Chop the figs and cherries into small bits. Soak them in sherry and honey overnight.
  • Beat butter and sugar until very fluffy. Use a medium speed for two minutes.
  • Mix in the egg and lemon juice. Ensure the mixture is smooth and light.
  • Sift the flour and cloves together. Add them slowly to the wet batter.
  • Stir in the soaked fruit and pecans. Do not overmix the cookie dough.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic film. Refrigerate for at least one hour.
  • Drop spoonfuls onto a lined tray. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
