- 2 pounds fresh spinach
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion chopped
- 3 garlic cloves chopped
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper
- 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyère cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Wash and dry the spinach.
Melt butter in a pan on medium heat.
Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
Add garlic and cook for one more minute.
Add spinach a little at a time. Let it wilt.
When all spinach is soft, turn off the heat.
Add cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Pour the mix into a baking dish.
Sprinkle cheese on top.
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Use fresh spinach for better flavor.
- Gruyère cheese gives the best taste, but cheddar works too.
- If you like it extra creamy, add more cream.
- Make sure spinach isn’t watery before baking.
- Add breadcrumbs on top for a crispy finish.
