Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 15-ounce can kidney beans, rinsed
  • 1 15-ounce can cannellini beans, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese sour cream, cilantro, cornbread

Instructions
 

Sauté Onions and Garlic

  • Heat oil in your pot. Add chopped onions. Cook until soft. This takes about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic. Cook for one more minute. It will smell amazing.

Brown the Turkey

  • Add ground turkey to the pot. Break it up. Cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add Spices and Liquids

  • Stir in chili powder. Add cumin and oregano. Mix well. Pour in crushed tomatoes. Add kidney beans. Include cannellini beans. Pour in chicken broth. Add cayenne if you like spice. Season with salt and pepper.

Simmer the Chili

  • Bring chili to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover the pot. Simmer for at least 30 minutes. An hour is even better. This deepens the flavor. Stir occasionally.

Serve and Enjoy
