Ingredients

  • 1 box VANILLA WAFERS
  • 6 large BANANAS
  • 14 oz SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
  • 5 oz INSTANT VANILLA PUDDING MIX
  • 1 cup COLD WATER
  • 2 cups HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Get a large bowl for the base mix. Pour in the cold water and condensed milk. Whisk them together until they are very smooth.

Step 2:

  • Add the instant vanilla pudding mix now. Whisk the mixture for about two minutes. Make sure there are no lumps left inside.

Step 3:

  • Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap. Place the bowl in the fridge now. Let it set for at least five minutes.

Step 4:

  • Pour the heavy cream into another cold bowl. Use your hand mixer on a high speed. Whip the cream until it is very thick.

Step 5:

  • Take the pudding mix out of the fridge. Gently fold the whipped cream into the pudding. Use a spatula for a light touch here.

Step 6:

  • Line the bottom of your dish with wafers. Place them in a single even layer. This creates the base of your dessert.

Step 7:

  • Slice your bananas into small round pieces. Place them on top of the vanilla wafers. Cover the cookies completely with the fruit.

Step 8:

  • Spread half of the pudding over the bananas. Use your spatula to make it very smooth. Ensure it reaches all the dish corners.

Step 9:

  • Repeat the layers once more with more wafers. Add more bananas and the rest of the pudding. The top should be white and creamy.

Step 10:

  • Crush a few extra wafers for a garnish. Sprinkle the crumbs over the very top layer. This adds a nice bit of texture.

Step 11:

  • Cover the dish and put it in fridge. Let it chill for four to six hours. This allows the wafers to get soft.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for the best and sweetest flavor.
  • Chill the bowl before you whip the heavy cream.
  • Fold the cream gently to keep the pudding fluffy.
  • Let the pudding set fully before adding the cream.
  • Dip bananas in lemon juice to prevent browning quickly.
  • Use a glass dish to show off the layers.
  • Add extra wafers on top just before you serve.
  • Make sure the water is very cold for pudding.
  • Do not skip the chilling time in the fridge.
