Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wire whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 10 Slices Texas Toast
  • 1 Cup Dulce De Leche
  • 6 Large Whole Eggs
  • 1.5 Cups Whole Milk
  • 0.5 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Pinch Salt

Instructions

  • Slice your thick bread into uniform cubes carefully. Place them evenly into your greased baking dish. Do not crowd the pieces too much.
  • Whisk your eggs in the large mixing bowl. Add the whole milk and heavy cream next. Mix them until the liquid is fully smooth.
  • Pour in the sweet vanilla extract now. Add the warm ground cinnamon and salt. Whisk again to combine everything well.
  • Warm your dulce de leche in the microwave. Drizzle half of it over the bread cubes. Make sure it coats the pieces nicely.
  • Pour your smooth egg mixture over the bread. Press the bread down gently with a spoon. Let it soak for twenty minutes.
  • Sprinkle the rich brown sugar over the top. Put the dish into your preheated oven. Bake at 350 degrees for forty minutes.
  • Remove the golden dish from the oven safely. Drizzle the remaining warm dulce de leche right on top. Serve it warm to your guests.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for the best liquid absorption.
  • Do not skip the heavy cream for richness.
  • Warm the caramel so it drizzles very easily.
  • Let the bread soak fully before you bake.
  • Watch the oven closely so it does not burn.
