Mini Shepherds Pies Recipe

Equipment

  • Muffin tin or small ramekins
  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Potato masher
  • Medium pot for potatoes
  • Mixing spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion chopped fine
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables peas, carrots, corn
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 4 large potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheese optional

Instructions
 

  • Peel and cut potatoes into small pieces.
  • Put them in a pot with water.
  • Add some salt to the water.
  • Boil for 15-20 minutes until soft.
  • Drain the water completely.
  • Mash potatoes with butter and milk.
  • Make them smooth and creamy.
  • Set aside while you cook the filling.
  • Heat your skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground meat and cook it.
  • Break it into small pieces as it cooks.
  • When it's brown, drain extra fat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic next.
  • Cook for 3 minutes until soft.
  • The kitchen will smell wonderful now.
  • Sprinkle flour over the cooked meat.
  • Stir it in for one minute.
  • Add tomato paste and mix well.
  • Pour in the beef broth slowly.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Throw in your mixed vegetables.
  • Let everything simmer for 5 minutes.
  • The sauce should get nice and thick.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Grease your muffin tin or ramekins.
  • Spoon the meat mixture into each cup.
  • Fill them about three-quarters full.
  • Add mashed potatoes on top carefully.
  • Spread them to cover the filling completely.
  • Make small peaks with a fork.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top if you like.
  • Put the tin in your preheated oven.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • The tops should turn golden brown.
  • The edges will bubble slightly.
  • Remove from oven and let cool.
  • Wait 5 minutes before serving them.
  • This helps them set properly.
