Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Glass Jar
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup FRANK'S REDHOT ORIGINAL
  • 1/4 cup UNSALTED BUTTER
  • 1 tbsp WHITE VINEGAR
  • 1/2 tsp CAYENNE PEPPER
  • 1/4 tsp GARLIC POWDER
  • 1/4 tsp ONION POWDER
  • 1/4 tsp SALT
  • 1 drop LIQUID SMOKE

Instructions

  • Prepare the Butter Base First, you must melt your unsalted butter. Use a microwave-safe bowl for this step. Heat it until it is completely liquid. Do not let the butter turn brown.
  • Add the Hot Sauce Pour the Frank’s RedHot into the melted butter. Use a whisk to combine them well. The mixture should look bright orange and glossy.
  • Incorporate the Spices Add the garlic powder and onion powder now. Sprinkle in the cayenne pepper for heat. Add the salt to enhance the taste. Stir constantly while adding these dry spices.
  • Add the Tangy Liquids Pour in the white vinegar and liquid smoke. These add the signature Red Robin zing. Whisk the sauce until it is very smooth. Ensure there are no clumps of spices left.
  • Let the Flavors Meld Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let it sit for ten minutes. This helps the spices wake up. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
  • Final Stir and Serve Give the sauce one last quick whisk. Taste a small drop to check the heat. Move it to a serving bowl or jar. Your homemade buzz sauce is now ready.
