Whisk everything together in a bowl.
Set this mixture aside for now.
Beat softened butter with granulated sugar together.
Mix until light and fluffy in texture.
This takes about three minutes of beating.
Add egg, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
Beat until everything is well combined together.
The mixture should look bright red now.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to wet.
Mix until just combined into smooth dough.
Don't overmix or cookies become tough.
Cover bowl with plastic wrap tightly now.
Refrigerate for at least two hours minimum.
Cold dough is easier to handle properly.
Scoop dough into small balls using spoon.
Roll each ball in powdered sugar generously.
Place on prepared baking sheet with spacing.
Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes only.
Cookies should have beautiful white cracks appearing.
Don't overbake or they'll become too dry.
