Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb chicken wings or drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water

Instructions
 

  • Mix cornstarch, flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and baking powder.
  • Beat the egg and mix it with cold water. Add to dry ingredients.
  • Dip the chicken in the batter. Cover well.
  • In a pan, heat oil to 350°F.
  • Fry the chicken for 6-7 minutes until light brown.
  • Place the chicken on a wire rack. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Fry again for 5 minutes until crispy.
  • In a small pot, mix soy sauce, honey, sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and pepper flakes.
  • Add the cornstarch mix. Stir until thick.
  • Toss the fried chicken in the sauce.
  • Enjoy with your favorite sides.

  1. Fry twice for extra crispiness.
  2. Use cold water for a light batter.
  3. Let the chicken rest before frying again.
  4. Change the sweetness and saltiness as you like.
