Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb sirloin steak sliced thin
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup queso cheese sauce
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Season steak strips with salt and pepper.
  • Cook steak for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  • Remove steak and set aside.
  • Add onions to same pan.
  • Cook for 2 minutes until soft.
  • Add garlic and bell pepper.
  • Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Return steak to pan.
  • Add cumin and paprika.
  • Stir everything together well.
  • Add cooked rice to the pan.
  • Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  • Pour queso sauce over everything.
  • Reduce heat to low.
  • Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions.
  • Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  1. Use day-old rice for better texture and less sticking
  2. Don't overcook the steak to keep it tender
  3. Warm the queso sauce before adding for smoother mixing
  4. Add jalapeƱos for extra heat if desired
  5. Let the dish rest for 2 minutes before serving
